2025: Prime Time, Year Two

2025 Record: 9-3 (7-2 Big 12) | AP Ranking: #18 | Bowl: Holiday Bowl vs. USC

The Deion show rolls on. And I’m still not sure how I feel about it. — Mike

Every Colorado game is an event. Even when they’re losing. It’s kind of impressive. — Jake

Quick Facts

Location Boulder, Colorado
Stadium Folsom Field (50,183)
Head Coach Deion Sanders (3rd season)
Colors Silver, Gold & Black
Mascot Ralphie the Buffalo
Conference Titles 1 Big 12 (2001), 0 since returning

Traditions: Ralphie the live buffalo running across the field before games (genuinely terrifying and awesome), Folsom Field’s insane mountain backdrop, the “Buffs” chant. Deion has added his own flair — the sunglasses, the chains, the media scrums that turn into content.

Mike & Jake’s Take

🛋️ Mike’s Take (Oklahoma State Fan)

Okay, I need to separate two things here: the football and the circus.

The football has actually improved. Legitimately. Year one was chaotic — massive roster turnover, portal madness, inconsistent results. Year two is more stable. They’ve got actual depth now, the offensive line isn’t a disaster, and the defense has gone from “please don’t score 50” to “actually competitive.”

Shedeur Sanders is a good quarterback. Not elite, but good. Makes smart decisions, can extend plays, has enough arm talent to make throws. He’s going to be a first-round pick.

Travis Hunter won the Heisman. Deserved it. The two-way stuff is legitimately impressive, even if it’s partly a product of the system Deion runs.

The circus part — the cameras, the Netflix documentary, the constant media presence — I understand why people hate it. But Colorado was irrelevant for a decade before Deion showed up. Now they’re bowl eligible with a winning record and nationally relevant. Results matter.

9-3 is a good season. Not championship caliber, but progress. See where they land in our standings page.

Confidence Level: Cautiously acknowledging improvement

🍺 Jake’s Take (Texas Tech Fan)

Listen. I don’t care about the drama. I don’t care about the cameras. I don’t care about what people on Twitter think about Deion’s sunglasses.

I care about one thing: is Colorado fun to watch?

And the answer is yes. Every game is chaos. You never know what’s going to happen. They might win by 20 or lose by 20. Shedeur might throw for 400 yards or get sacked 6 times. Travis Hunter might single-handedly win the game or get targeted so much he’s exhausted by halftime.

It’s entertainment. College football is supposed to be entertainment. Colorado delivers that.

The Tech game this year was wild — we won 38-35, but it was a slugfest. Shedeur is annoyingly hard to sack, and Hunter made like three catches that had no business being caught. I was stressed the whole time.

Would I want Tech to be run like Colorado? No. But I’m glad Colorado exists. The sport is better with Deion in it. New to the conference? Check out our New Fan’s Guide for context on how wild this all is.

Confidence Level: They’re a wagon or a disaster every single week

2025 Betting Trends

Stat Record Percentage
Against the Spread (ATS) 7-5 58.3%
Over/Under 8-4 O 66.7%
Home ATS 4-2 66.7%
Road ATS 3-3 50.0%
As Favorite ATS 5-4 55.6%
As Underdog ATS 2-1 66.7%

Jake’s Betting Notes: OVERS. Colorado games go over 66.7% of the time. The offense scores, the defense gives up points, and the total just climbs. If you’re betting Colorado, default to the over unless it’s like 70+. More tips in our Big 12 Betting Guide.

Mike’s Betting Notes: The home ATS is solid. Folsom Field is a tough place to play — altitude, crowd, atmosphere. Road games are unpredictable, which fits the general Colorado vibe of “who knows what’s going to happen.”

Key Players (2025)

Shedeur Sanders — QB

312-of-441 (70.7%) | 3,891 yards | 33 TD | 8 INT | 162.4 rating

Deion’s son, but make no mistake — he’s earned his starting spot. Accurate, poised, handles pressure well. Going to be a top-10 NFL pick.

Travis Hunter — WR/CB (Heisman Trophy Winner)

Offense: 94 rec | 1,258 yards | 13.4 YPR | 14 TD
Defense: 48 tackles | 11 PBU | 4 INT

The best player in college football. Playing both ways at an elite level shouldn’t be possible, but here we are. Generational talent.

Isaiah Augustave — RB

187 carries | 1,024 yards | 5.5 YPC | 9 TD

The transfer from Florida provided the ground game Colorado desperately needed. Physical runner who can break tackles.

Rivals & Key Matchups

Utah — Rocky Mountain Showdown energy without the actual Showdown (that’s vs. Colorado State). Utah games are physical and mean.

Arizona State — Pac-12 carryover rivalry. Games are competitive and weird.

Nebraska (Non-conference) — The real rivalry. Not currently scheduled, but the fan bases still hate each other.
