I’m going to write this once. I’m not going to enjoy it. And Jake, if you’re reading this — and I know you are — just… don’t. — Mike
I’m not going to say anything. I’m just going to be here. Supportively. With my Big 12 Championship hat on. — Jake

Mike & Jake’s Take
🛋️ Mike’s Take (Oklahoma State Fan)
Okay. Here we go.
Mike Gundy was the head coach at Oklahoma State for 18 years. Eighteen years. He built this program from a doormat into a consistent winner. The 2011 team should’ve played for a national championship. We had a decade-long stretch of being legitimately competitive every single year.
And then it fell apart.
I don’t want to relitigate the whole thing. The losses piled up. The offense looked stale. The recruiting had slipped. After starting 1-2 with blowout losses to Arkansas and Utah, the administration made the call. Gundy was out.
It was the right decision. I hate that it was the right decision, but it was.
The interim staff tried. They really did. But the roster wasn’t equipped for a rebuild mid-season, and the results showed. 3-9. The worst record since the pre-Gundy era. I watched every game — every painful, frustrating, unwatchable game — because that’s what you do when it’s your team.
The Eric Morris hire is interesting. He’s an offensive mind, Air Raid roots, did good things at Washington State. It’s going to take time. Maybe two years before we’re competitive again. Maybe three.
But I’ve been an OSU fan long enough to know we’ve rebuilt before. It just hurts more when Jake’s team is winning a championship while we’re losing to Houston by 30.
Confidence Level: Cautiously hopeful for 2026
🍺 Jake’s Take (Texas Tech Fan)
Look. I could pile on here. It would be easy. OSU went 3-9, fired their legendary coach, lost to basically everyone, and watched from the couch while Tech won a championship.
But here’s the thing — and I’m being serious for once — Mike Gundy built something real in Stillwater. I hated playing OSU every year because they were always good. Physical. Well-coached. Annoying.
This year sucked for them. No getting around it. But programs like Oklahoma State don’t stay down forever. They’ve got the facilities, the fan base, the history. Morris is a solid hire. Give him two recruiting classes and they’ll be back.
(Mike owes me $50 from a bet we made in August about who’d have the better season. I haven’t collected yet because I’m a good brother. But I will collect.)
Do I feel bad for Mike? A little. Am I going to stop bringing up the 45-17 game? Absolutely not. That’s different.
Confidence Level: They’ll be fine eventually. This year was rough though.
2025 Betting Trends
| Stat | Record | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| Against the Spread (ATS) | 4-8 | 33.3% |
| Over/Under | 5-7 U | 41.7% |
| Home ATS | 3-3 | 50.0% |
| Road ATS | 1-5 | 16.7% |
| As Favorite ATS | 1-2 | 33.3% |
| As Underdog ATS | 3-6 | 33.3% |
Mike’s Betting Notes: Yeah, don’t look at these. The road ATS number is brutal — 1-5. The team quit competing in road games after October. I don’t blame bettors for fading them. I faded them too. It was the responsible thing to do. Our predictions archive has all the receipts.
Jake’s Betting Notes: The under trend makes sense. The offense couldn’t score, the defense gave up big plays, and the game scripts were ugly. If you bet the under on OSU all year, you probably did okay.
Key Players (2025)
Alan Bowman — QB
187-of-298 (62.8%) | 2,104 yards | 14 TD | 11 INT | 128.7 rating
Bowman tried. The supporting cast wasn’t there, the protection wasn’t there, and he took way too many hits. The INT number is ugly, but context matters — a lot of those were desperation throws with the game already out of reach.
Ollie Gordon II — RB
156 carries | 687 yards | 4.4 YPC | 6 TD
The 2023 Doak Walker winner had a disappointing final season. Injuries limited him early, and the offensive line couldn’t create running lanes consistently. He deserved a better send-off.
Collin Oliver — EDGE
52 tackles | 9.5 TFL | 6 sacks | 2 FF
The one bright spot on defense. Oliver played hard all year even when the team was getting blown out. He’s got NFL potential if he declares.
Rivals & Key Matchups
Bedlam (vs. Oklahoma) — On hold since OU left for the SEC. The biggest rivalry in state history. They’re talking about bringing it back as a non-conference game. I hope they do. — Mike
Texas Tech — Jake’s team. The 45-17 loss this year was… we don’t need to discuss it further.
Kansas State — Two physical, old-school programs. Games are usually close and ugly. K-State won 27-13 this year.
